Our Acknowledgement of the Traditional Custodians

We acknowledge that we meet and work on land for which the Boonwurrung peoples of the Kulin Nations are the traditional owners and custodians. We pay our respects to the elders past, present and future for they hold the memories, traditions, culture and hope of Indigenous Australians.

Our Acknowledgment of the Victorian State Government

The Victorian State Government funds 15 hours of 4year old and 15 hours of 3year old kindergarten each year

Our Statement of Commitment to Child Safety

Hurlingham Preschool is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child feels valued and protected. We follow the Victorian Child Safe Standards with policies, training, and procedures to ensure child safety. Our community works together to uphold children’s rights, promote wellbeing, and create a space where they can thrive.

OUR COMMITMENT TO ABORIGINAL CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND CULTURE

Hurlingham Preschool is dedicated to fostering a culturally safe and inclusive environment where Aboriginal children and families feel valued, respected, and empowered. We are committed to:

  • Supporting the participation and inclusion of Aboriginal children and families in our service.
  • Ensuring the safety, empowerment, and cultural identity of Aboriginal children.
  • Encouraging Aboriginal children to express their culture and maintain connections to kinship, land, and Country.
  • Providing opportunities for Aboriginal children to learn from Elders and celebrate their heritage.
  • Embedding cultural safety through staff training, inclusive policies, and respectful practices.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) strengthens relationships, respect, and opportunities in our learning environment and community. Learn more at reconciliation.org.au/narragunnawali.
